With so many great photos to choose from, selecting the winners for our annual Get Out Enjoy Life Photo Contest with SPORTS 'N SPOKES magazine is always a difficult decision.
In 2014, Regina Cake won first place in the Get Out Enjoy Life Photo Contest with her taking the roads by storm in her adaptive, hot pink motorcycle. Coming in second place was Cade Maynor’s rock-climbing photo, and Jason McCue’s passion for surfing landed him in third place for the competition.
But, for all our participants [more than 500!] who didn’t place in the 2014 Get Out Enjoy Life Photo Competition, we’ve decided to award 10 individuals an honorable mention, and share how these individuals get out and enjoy life.
Kim Harrison lets loose, and zip lines high above the ground without a care in the world. Heights may bother some people, but it looks like Kim is having the time of her life. A wheelchair may be her main source of mobility, but it’s not her only one.
Whether it’s for recreation or competition, Chanelle Houston doesn’t seem to mind. With a big smile, she rocks this adaptive hand-cycle with style. These hand-cycles are a great way for people who have limited or no mobility in their lower body, to get outside, exercise and to have fun while doing so.
John Wesley takes on this water sport like none other, skimming over the water’s surface with ease. He makes this difficult sport look easy.
Taylor Champion gets ready for her homerun in the batting cage.
Brandy Mcgowan strikes a pose in a women’s figure exhibition, showing off what a lot of hard work, dedication and a never give up attitude can get you.
In this elegant and poised picture, Cara Moro steals the attention from the city she overlooks. Sometimes it takes seeing the world from another angle to truly appreciate its beauty, and to grasp the opportunities it has in store for anyone who is willing to take them.
Xander Mozejewski knows life’s limitless opportunities, and decides to live life to the fullest, which for him means traveling, snow skiing and just having fun.
David Murphy may have to use a powered chair for mobility, but that doesn’t stop him from taking a few turkeys every now and then. A true hunter at heart, David isn’t going to let a chair keep him from the great outdoors.
Steve Nile shoots for the bulls eye at this archery range. Many archery ranges are now carrying adaptive equipment, so that individuals with disabilities can get out and shoot.
A picture like this can take one’s breath away. Pictured here is Eric Thompson, taking in the view and enjoying the moment, the peacefulness, and most of all, enjoying life.
We want to thank all the individuals who submitted photos in the 2014 Get Out Enjoy Life Photo Contest. Be sure and check back weekly to see what events Wheel:Life has in store for 2015. Stay tuned for GOEL 2015, coming up in June!
