The Triumph Foundation is Here to Help You Up

triumph

Triumph means "the act of greatly overcoming an obstacle". The word itself is powerful and motivating, which is why it perfectly takes its place within the Triumph Foundation's name. The Triumph Foundation is an organization devoted to helping individuals with spinal cord injuries overcome whatever obstacles they are facing and to do so in a way that is triumphant. In other words, the goal isn’t only for individuals to overcome their obstacles, but to learn how to move forward and achieve their greatest goals.

Overcoming an obstacle is only half the battle, learning how to push forward and where to go after you’ve overcome an obstacle is just as important as the triumph itself. In order to better one’s life and reach fulfillment, you need to know in what direction to travel. That’s exactly what the Triumph Foundation is here for.

The Triumph Foundation is a non-profit organization whose main focus is to help individuals become the best they can be and teach them how to move forward with their lives after a spinal cord injury. By encouraging individuals to look at their situation in a positive light and as a new beginning, the Triumph Foundation helps to energize people and helps them to look ahead rather than dwell on the negatives.

One way the Triumph Foundation does this is by providing each individual with a care basket that is full of brochures and information on local resources and facilities that offer help to those looking to overcome their situation. They also provide support groups, to help people who need modifications done to their home, so that it is wheelchair friendly. They also provide advice on finances, grant programs, recreational sports for wheelchair users and counseling services. The Triumph Foundation is here to help you help yourself, promoting the betterment of oneself through a healthy lifestyle, exercise, a healthy diet, and a positive outlook on life.

Founders Andrew and Kirsten Skinner, of the Triumph Foundation, understand the difficulties and obstacles that come along with a spinal cord injury. Andrew suffered a spinal cord injury on November 26, 2004 after a snowboarding incident, and is now a recovering quadriplegic. So, to say that everything the Triumph Foundation stands for, “hits home,” is an understatement. Because Andrew and Kirsten understand the obstacles and frustrations that come along with a spinal cord injury, they know exactly what it takes to push past it all and use it as an advantage.

After a spinal cord injury, life can seem dark, scary and undesirable. But, it doesn’t have to be. The important thing to know is that you’re always going to fall, but picking yourself back up is something you don’t have to do alone. The Triumph Foundation wants to help pick you back up, teach you to become the best you can be and show you the countless opportunities life has in store for you.
